Gilmour Gets Back on Track, Cruises to Two Wins

The Gilmour Academy varsity girls lacrosse team cruised to a pair of victories on the road this past week.

The Lancers began the week with a 16-5 win at West Geauga High School.

Rylyn Anderson '23 led the offense with five goals while Sophie Hammond '22 found the net three times. Sophia Garofalo '21 and Molly Boyle '21 both scored twice and were key to helping the Lancers gain possession. Garofalo had seven ground balls while Boyle tallied nine draw controls. Ziya Damas '23 and Madeline Boyle '23 had a combined 10 saves in the goal.

After their scheduled home game Wednesday was postponed due to the wintry weather, the Lancers hit the road again Friday evening. Gilmour was nearly flawless in posting an 18-1 win over Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School.

Garofalo posted a game-high six goals and won seven draw controls to lead the Lancers. Molly Boyle impacted the game in multiple areas, scoring three goals, collecting three draw controls and adding an assist.

Ava Moe '22, Meaghan Stack '21 and Isabella Sprang '21 each finished with two goals for Gilmour. Meghan Bhanoo '22 was a force on the defensive end, posting three draw controls and three caused turnovers.

Gilmour's junior varsity squad posted a 10-3 win over West Geauga before battling to a 1-1 tie at NDCL.

In the win over the Wolverines, Grace Stirling '24 led the way with three goals and an assist. Kelly McFadden '23 and Anna Saline '24 each scored twice as well.

In the draw with the Lions, Madeline Boyle had a standout performance in the cage. She saved seven of the eight shots on goal to help keep the Lancers in the game. Veronica Khula '23 had the lone goal in the game for GA and also added two ground balls.
