Six Lancers Earn Postseason Honors

Six members of the Gilmour Academy varsity girls lacrosse team received postseason recognition after the conclusion of the 2021 season.

Rylyn Anderson '23 was recognized as a News-Herald Honor Roll selection. She finished with 16 goals on the season while adding 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers. Anderson scored five goals in a win at West Geauga High School.

Madeline Boyle '23 also claimed a spot on the News-Herald Honor Roll list. She finished with a team-high 106 saves on the season. Boyle made seven stops in a home win over Beaumont School.

Molly Boyle '21 was one of the Lancers' top players throughout the season and earned a pair of postseason honors. She was named both All-Region Second Team and All-News-Herald Second Team. Boyle led the team in goals (42), assists (10) and draw controls (75) while also adding 39 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers on the season. She had four goals and an assist in the Lancers' playoff win over St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.

Ziya Damas '23 was tabbed as an All-Region Honorable Mention selection. She finished with 89 saves on the season, including seven in a win over Lake Catholic High School.

Sophia Garofalo '21 joined Molly Boyle in being a News-Herald Second Team honoree. Garofalo led Gilmour in both ground balls (67) and caused turnovers (41) while finishing second in goals (33) and draw controls (55). She tallied three goals and two assists in the Lancers' playoff win over the Fighting Irish.

Kaitlyn Schooley '22 was Gilmour's third selection on the News-Herald Honor Roll list. She posted 25 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers while helping lead the Lancer defense. Schooley provided one of the most memorable moments of the season for GA in a game at Solon High School. In the second overtime session, she caused a turnover and headed upfield to score the game-winning goal, lifting Gilmour to a 10-9 win over the Comets.

Gilmour's six honorees helped the team post 10 wins during the season as the squad reached the OHSAA Regional Quarterfinals.
