Four Gilmour Academy Student-Athletes Make Verbal Commitments

GATES MILLS, Ohio, July 10, 2017 — Gilmour Academy has four student-athletes who have made verbal commitments to play collegiately for NCAA Division I programs, including: Annie Greene '19 to the University of Northern Kentucky for women's soccer; Izzy Greene '18 to the University of Dayton for women's soccer; Naz Hillmon '18 to the University of Michigan for women's basketball; and Tyler Leroux '18 to the University at Buffalo for football.

The Greene sisters (Lyndhurst, Ohio) helped lead the Lancers to the 2016 Division III Girls Soccer State Championship with an overall record of 22-1. Older sister Izzy was an attacking center midfielder and center forward, earning News-Herald Player of the Year, First-Team All-Ohio, First Team All-Greater Cleveland, First Team All-News-Herald and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Central Region honors. She totaled 20 goals and 13 assists. Younger sister Annie totaled 18 goals and nine assists as a forward. She earned Second Team All-Greater Cleveland and Second Team All-News Herald.

Hillmon (Cleveland, Ohio), the 2017 Associated Press Division III Player of the Year and News-Herald Player of the Year, helped lead the Lancers to a 2017 Division III Girls Basketball State Championship with an overall record of 24-5. She averaged 15.8 points and 13.1 rebounds as a starting post player.

Leroux (Mentor, Ohio) was a two-starter on the offensive and defensive lines for the Lancer football team, which earned a record of 7-3 in its most recent season.  He totaled 34 tackles on his way to being named All-Ohio Special Mention.

Gilmour Academy is a Catholic, independent, coeducational, college-preparatory school.  It is sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross, Notre Dame, Ind., and offers a Montessori program beginning at 18-months-old and a Lower School, Middle School and Upper School.
