Lancers Swimming Kicks Off 2020-2021 Season

The Lancers swimming program began their 2020-2021 season on a high note, as they hosted the Archbishop Hoban Knights on Thursday, December 3.  

The girls team defeated the Knights 105-62 in a meet controlled by the Lancers from start to finish. In the first event of the season, Abby Meyer '21, Kylee Radigan '22, Laina Collis '24 and Savannah Hirsch '24 won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:54.92. Meyer, the only senior on the team, also had impressive first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly.  Radigan won the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle, while Collis earned a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke event.  

While the boys team lost to the Knights, the Lancers had strong performances in several events.  Andrew Lewis '23 won the 100 backstroke and Alex Figurella '22 finished first in the 100 butterfly event. The boys also had impressive finishes in relay competition, as Deaglan Bryant '23, Lewis, Figurella and Lane Levengood '23 placed second in the 200 freestyle relay, with a time of 1:41.97. 

The Lancers next home meet will take place on Tuesday, December 15, as they host Saint Joseph Academy and St. Edward High School at 5 p.m.  Members of Lancer Nation can watch all home meets at gilmour.org/live
