Lancers Swimming Defeats Lake Catholic

The Lancers continued to solidify their status as a top swimming program in the area on Thursday, December 10 as they defeated rival Lake Catholic High School.  

The girls team started off the meet strong and never looked back, as they beat the Cougars 121-49. Several Lancers took first place in their individual races, including Taylor Markowski '22 (200 freestyle), Abby Meyer '21 (200 individual medley), Lacie Frech '23 (50 freestyle), Laina Collis '24 (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke), Savannah Hirsch '24 (100 freestyle), Kylee Radigan '22 (500 freestyle) and Maddie Sammut '24 (100 breaststroke). 

Strong performances in the 200 medley relay by Andrew Lewis '23, Deaglan Bryant '23, Alex Figurella '22, and Ian Colleran '24, and 200 freestyle relay by John Stack '23, Lane Levengood '23, Anthony Marino '24 and Colleran propelled the Gilmour boys team to defeat Lake Catholic 48-40. Figurella also had an impressive first-place finish in the 100 butterfly that helped solidify a victory for the Lancers on Thursday. 

The Lancers next home meet will take place on Tuesday, December 15, as they host Saint Joseph Academy and St. Edward High School at 5 p.m. Members of Lancer Nation can watch all home meets at gilmour.org/live.
