Lancers Swim Program Has Impressive Performance in Dual Meet

The Lancers swimming program proved that they are a force to be reckoned with against steep competition on Tuesday, December 15, as the girls team took on Saint Joseph Academy and the boys raced against St. Edward High School.

The boys team held their own against St. Edward, a top swim program in the area. Although the Lancers ultimately lost to the Eagles 80-60, several swimmers took first place in key races, including Andrew Lewis '23 (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke), Deaglan Bryant '23 (50 freestyle, 500 freestyle), Alex Figurella '22 (200 individual medley) and Ian Colleran '24 (100 breaststroke). Figurella, Lewis, Colleran and Bryant also placed first in the 200 freestyle relay.

The girls team had a statement victory against Saint Joseph Academy, winning 118-50. The Lancers earned first place in all events during the meet, a feat that should be celebrated against tough DI competition. Individual winners included Abby Meyer '21 (200 freestyle, 100 breastroke), Kylee Radigan '22 (200 individual medley, 100 backstroke), Laina Collis '24 (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly), Savannah Hirsch '24 (100 freestyle) and Maddie Sammut '24 (500 freestyle).

The Lancers next home meet will take place on Friday, December 18, as they host Chagrin Falls High School at 5 p.m. Members of Lancer Nation can watch all home meets at gilmour.org/live.
