The Lancer Varsity A girls tennis team earned an early week victory against Chagrin Falls, 3-2, before dropping matches to a powerful Mentor team, 5-0, and Magnifcat, 3-2. In the win, singles players Ava Moe '22 (pictured on the right) and Madison Maynard '23 won in straight sets, while the doubles pair Maya Moufawad '21 and Lauren Kastelic '22 was victorious in two sets.

Against Division I Mentor, the Cardinals may have had a clean sweep over the Lancers, but Moe had a great battle, going the full three sets. Then, against Magnificat, there was an unbelievable number of tiebreak sets by Moe and fellow singles player Lizzy Frawley '23, and doubles pairs Hadley Hairston '21 and Claire Jablonski '21, and Moufawad and Kastelic.

The Lancer Varsity B girls tennis team broke even this past week with one clear victory and one close loss. After losing a tight 3-2 match to Aurora, Gilmour came out strong against St. Vincent-St. Mary, winning 4-1. Head coach Rob Fowler was happy with how the team performed for the week overall, but gave the honor of Performer of the Week to newcomer Bella Lasecki '22 (pictured on the left), who went 2-0 at third singles. Coach Fowler also touted the doubles match against Aurora by Ryan Kay '21 and Anna Martin '21 as the Match of the Week, as they finished it off with a tight 11-9 tiebreak.

For the week, Varsity B wins were earned by singles players Lasecki (2) and Natalie Figurella '23, and doubles players Grace Gainar '22 and Elisa Flynn '22Maggie Grunden '21 and Lilly Kosar '21, and Kay and Martin.
