The Gilmour Academy varsity B girls tennis team wrapped up a competitive season on October 5, closing with a solid win against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on the road. The Lancers finished with an overall record of 5-6, but according to head coach Rob Fowler, "That final number belies the true strength of the team."

In total matches played, Gilmour finished with a record of 29-26, winning the majority of matches played. Of particular note is the team's performance in three-set and tiebreaker matches. Of the 14 three-setters and tiebreakers played, the Lancers won 10.

"This is a testament to the grit and determination of our team and the strength of our will to win," said Fowler, "I say thank you to all of our players, who provided us with an embarrassment of riches in terms of talent."

Fowler went on to explain what each player brought to the program this season.

"Maggie Grunden '21, Lilly Kosar '21, Anna Martin '21 and Ryan Kay '21 brought steady leadership to the team. Returning juniors Elissa Flynn '22, Grace Gainar '22 and Clara Morgan '22 provided some powerful punch in doubles matches. Newcomers Bella Lasecki '22 and Sophie Hammond '22 quickly established themselves as versatile competitors and second-year player Natalie Figurella '23 anchored our team at singles and proved her mettle by winning 4-out-of-5 of the tiebreakers she played."
