Gilmour Picks Up Win at Andrews Osborne

In what turned out to be their only action last week, the Gilmour Academy Varsity A girls tennis team tallied a 4-1 victory at Andrews Osborne Academy.

With the win, the Lancers improved to 2-0 in road matches this season.

Gilmour was buoyed by strong doubles play and a pair of tight wins in the singles lineup.

Grace Gainar '22 and Lauren Kastelic '22 posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 doubles spot while Katherine Frawley '25 and Giana Lonardo '22 cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the other doubles match.

With Gilmour dropping the second singles match in straight sets, the team result came down to a pair of tight battles at the other two singles positions.

At No. 1 singles, Ava Moe '22 claimed a 7-5 victory in the opening set. She dropped the second set via a tiebreaker, but she immediately responded by winning the match tiebreaker, 10-6.

Elise Rondini '24, a fixture in the doubles lineup for much of the season thus far, had been inserted into the No. 3 singles position for the match. After dropping the first set 6-2, Rondini battled back to claim a 6-4 win in the second set. She then proceeded to win the match tiebreaker 10-8, posting her first singles victory as a Lancer.

Gilmour was scheduled to host Aurora High School the following afternoon. However, multiple rounds of rain forced the abandonment of the action before any players were able to complete their matches.

The Lancers have eight more dual matches on the ledger before the postseason opens, four of which are at home.
