Gilmour Academy varsity volleyball players Ava Nestor '21 and Kathryn Randorf '22 are nominated together for the MaxPreps Ohio High School Athlete of the Week. This award is decided by a fan vote, so the Gilmour community and friends of Lancer Nation are encouraged to vote for the pair now through the voting deadline - November 23 at noon. You may vote as many times as you like through that date. 

Nestor and Randorf, both key offensive players for the Lancers, are nominees this week based on their standout performances in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division II State Semifinal and Division II State Final. Nestor, the team's setter, recorded 51 assists and 13 digs in the Lancer's state semifinal victory against Tippecanoe High School. Randorf, a six-rotation middle hitter, had 19 kills, 11 digs and four blocks in the semifinal match.  

Both Nestor and Randorf played essential roles in securing the Lancer's state title, as the team defeated Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School in the OHSAA DII State Final on Sunday, November 15. Nestor had a match-high 55 assists, 12 digs and two aces against the Lions.  Randorf also recorded a match-high 24 kills, 11 digs, and two blocks in the state final match. 

The Lancers defeated the Lions to win the state title in five thrilling sets - 16-25, 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 15-13. This is the Lancer's second state title in program history, and first at the Division II level.
