Lancers Cruise to Fourth Straight District Title

The Gilmour Academy varsity volleyball team won a pair of matches last week to secure its fourth consecutive OHSAA District title.

With the pair of victories, Gilmour stayed on course in its bid to repeat as state champions.

Gilmour began the week by taking down Cloverleaf High School in the District Semifinals. The Lancers cruised to a three-set win over the Colts (25-6, 25-2, 25-13).

The Lancers had 16 aces in the match and also hit at a .410 clip over the three sets.

Ella Jackson '25 led GA in the semifinal by posting a double-double. She notched an astounding 10 aces in her two sets of action while also adding a team-high 16 assists.

Kayla Channell '25 and Kathryn Randorf '22 led the Gilmour offense, as both produced highly-efficient numbers on the night.

Channell put down 10 kills on 15 swings without a single error to hit .667 for the match. She also added a team-best three blocks.

Randorf tallied nine kills on 12 attempts without an error to hit at a .750 clip. She also added five digs, two blocks and an ace.

Maria Flynn '24 added six kills on 11 attempts with zero errors, hitting .545, while Sabrina Gremm '22 finished with six kills and two blocks.

Laney Klika '23 posted a team-high 14 digs against Cloverleaf. Lucia Martino '24 added 10 assists and five digs for Gilmour.

The District Final matchup against Copley High School this past weekend did provide a tougher test for the Lancers. However, Gilmour still was able to claim a three-set win against the Indians (25-23, 25-16, 25-13).

Gilmour produced at high levels both offensively and defensively in the District Final, posting 50 kills and 63 digs in three sets of action.

Randorf and Gremm both tallied double-doubles and were two of four GA players that reached double figures in digs.

Randorf posted a team-high 18 kills, while hitting .438, along with 13 digs while Gremm contributed 10 kills and 11 digs.

Anna Rarick '23 posted eight kills, a team-high three aces and two blocks while Channell added seven kills and tied Randorf for the team high with three blocks.

Klika had a team-high 17 digs while Brooke Clair '22 finished with 11. Jackson quarterbacked the offense by providing 39 assists while also adding seven digs.

Gilmour will now partake in the Regional round of the OHSAA Tournament at Lexington High School. If the Lancers can procure two wins in the Regional round, they will book their third consecutive trip to the OHSAA State Final Four.
