Lancers Capture Third Straight Regional Crown

The Gilmour Academy varsity volleyball team continued its postseason run without a blip as the Lancers won two matches last week to claim their third consecutive OHSAA Regional title.

Gilmour defeated Marengo Highland High School in the Regional Semifinals and then took down Vermillion High School in the Regional Final, with both matches taking place at Lexington High School.

The Lancers claimed a 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 victory over Highland in the Semifinal match.

Kathryn Randorf '22 was absolutely vital to the Lancer cause against the Fighting Scots. She posted 22 kills, more than half of the team's total for the match, while also topping the team with four aces and three blocks.

Randorf's quantity of kills did not come at the expense of efficiency as she committed only four hitting errors, posting a percentage of .360 for the match.

Ella Jackson '25 was the one primarily responsible for setting up Randorf's big night. Jackson posted a double-double, registering a team-high 31 assists along with 10 digs.

Laney Klika '23 led the defensive effort by notching a team-high 14 digs along with a pair of aces.

Sabrina Gremm '22 added eight kills for GA while Brooke Clair '22 chipped in with nine digs against Highland.

Two days later, Gilmour booked a return trip to the State Championship courtesy of a 25-16, 25-20, 25-17 victory over Vermillion.

Randorf led GA with 13 kills, and hit .478 for the match, while also adding six digs, three blocks and two aces. Gremm was second on the team with 10 kills, hitting .304, and also posted six digs and two aces.

Jackson just missed her second double-double of the week as she finished with a team-high 32 assists along with nine digs.

Klika again led the team in digs, notching 10, and also contributed a trio of aces. Clair tallied five digs along with a team-high four service aces.

Kayla Channell '25 and Kelsie Thompson '25 each added five kills in the win.

The victory over the Sailors clinched the 11th Regional title in GA program history, all of which have come within the past 15 years.

By virtue of their Regional title, the Lancers have advanced to the OHSAA State Semifinals. Gilmour will face Lake Catholic High School this Friday evening at Wright State University's Nutter Center with a berth to the State Championship on the line.
