Cross Country: Lancers Begin Season at George Clements Invitational

The varsity cross country team began the season competing at the George Clements Invitational against a strong group of competitors. The girls took fourth out of eight teams, which included a number of tough Division I teams. The Lancers were only seven points away from earning a second-place finish. Kaitlin Rulison '23 (pictured on the left) led the way in her first high school race, finishing fifth overall in 21:06. Caitrina Barton '21 (ninth in 21:32) and Mary Lombardo '22 (12th in 21:41) also finished near the front. The Lancer attack was rounded out by the outstanding pack running of Jorja Hlifka '20 (23rd in 23:23), Mia Polisena '22 (24th in 23:26), Ava Moe '22 (27th 23:31) and Nina Padanilam '22 (34th in 25:10). Click here for complete girls results.

The Lancer girls team is ranked No. 8 among Division III teams in the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country (OATCCC) Preseason Poll.

For the boys team, the new-look Lancers took to the course with a squad full of newcomers and came away with a seventh-place finish out of 10 teams. Veterans Bryson Simpson '20 (pictured on the right) (11th in 17:53) and Cole Durdella '20 (13th in 18:03) led the way for Gilmour. Scott Vergilli '23 (44th in 20:13) was the third-best finisher among freshmen in the field. Garret Tomasek '20 (55th in 21:13), Nik Socrates '21 (60th in 22:53), Jackson Song '21 (62nd in 23:31) and Will Kay '23 (66th in 23:19) rounded out the top seven for Gilmour.
