Girls Cross Country Wins Regional Title, Heads to State Championship

The Lancers girls cross country team earned a trip to the Ohio High School Association (OHSAA) Division III State Championship race, as they placed first at the regional meet on Saturday, October 31 at Boardman High School.

The team had a commanding performance at the Division III Regional Championship, led by Amy Weybrecht '24, who finished second in 20:03.3. Caitrina Barton '21 placed fourth in 20:40.5, while Gia Rosko '21 (11th), Mary Lombardo '22 (16th) and Anna Lisac '24 (24th) followed for the Lancers. Caitlin Rulison '23 (36th) and Mia Polisena '22 (74th) rounded out the team's first-place finish.

As the team continues to prepare for the state championship, Amy Weybrecht '24 is simply enjoying the postseason experience with the team.

"It's really exciting to go to the state meet this year and win regionals! Winning is just a bonus with this team. The best part of the team is all the girls and how fun and supportive they are," said Weybrecht.

With their impressive win at regionals, the Lancers travel to compete in the Division III State Championship on Saturday, November 7 at Fortress Obetz, in Obetz Ohio.
